X-Fusion Vengeance HLR fork review

'Overall: Great forks for riding fast on rough terrain. Stiff, cushy, capable. Not exactly cheap but significantly less expensive than similar forks from the big brands. They seem to be holding up well too with no bushing slop or worrying noises emanating from inside.'

Richard Acott Innerleithen Race Rd1

Friday 10.02.12 - Weather has been poor most of week with heavy snow but checked maps and Innerleithen seemed clear and organisers had confirmed race would be run. New DMR Omen sample dh frame had arrived a couple of weeks ago and new parts fitted including X Fusion forks so looking forward to riding bike in full dh race conditions. I packed a selection of tyres including spikes just in case.

Track walk revealed a long track with a rocky and rooty top section that had some snow but was also covered in ice making this section very slippy. The middle section comprised of trees and bottom section was open with drops and berms. Overall the track was a good mix of open high speed and technical sections.

Saturday 11.02.12 - Heavy mist affected visibility on first run but bike felt really good, very stable and forks were easily dialled and offered plenty of adjustment - the whole package felt awesome. During day I also tried out new head cam and pleased with quality of video - more to follow.

Sunday 12.02.12- Early practise went well although the top section was still icy and patches of mist rolled around hillside making visibility difficult at times. First race run was good although I missed a couple of lines and posted time of 3.56. Second run was better and this time I hit all lines and posted a race winning time of 3.49. The bike had performed well and proved an awesome machine capable of tackling the roughest of tracks.

First race of season, new bike awesome and great result.
