Just arrived at Bikemajic HQ the new, revamped and fresh XCPro3 has just arrived for testing duties. The profiled tube shapes are achieved using an exclusive SPF (Superplastic Formed) process which gives a super smooth finish and increased tube diameters at the major junctions, avoiding the need for ugly gussets. Race report from Richard Allen – Oval sponsored athlete:

“REV3 Knoxville, an Olympic distance event and part of the big money, competitive REV3 series in the US. It's hard to race at the very top level again having come out of retirement! Racing so fast I seem to make mistakes.

I was feeling positive and strong but as I tried to unzip my suit the zip jammed and then broke. I think this was probably just bad luck but the speedsuit would not come off. I actually felt great on the hilly bike course and the Kestrel/Oval bike was awesome on the hills. I biked very well but was just too far off the pace after the transition disaster to be competitive. I came off the bike in 14th and although I ran ok, I stayed in 14th.

I have Orlando Ironman 70.3 this weekend and if I can minimize mistakes then I should have a strong race! Really looking forward to it!”

Cofidis use microSHIFT kit at Giro d'Italia

The team's Look 596 aero bikes are equipped with shift levers and rear derailleurs from MicroSHIFT.

Aesthetically speaking, the microSHIFT bar-end shift lever bears a strong resemblance to SRAM's 900 TT with its carbon fibre blades and red anodised aluminum caps but the cable pull ratio is a Shimano-compatible 2:1 instead of SRAM's 1:1 Exact Actuation setup.

Out back is microSHIFT's ARSiS rear derailleur, complete with a carbon fibre wrapped outer link and cage plus machined alloy pulleys rotating on sealed cartridge bearings.

FiveTwo Race Team Press Release

FiveTwo Race Team are releasing a team during 2010 and 2011 of six riders who have been selected due to raw talent and potential to impress. John Lee (rider of 52 weeks) has set up a new race team and they come with massive support from some of the best sponsors within the industry!

Nice review
HERE of the Lezyne Port A Shop on LondonCycleSport.com

"We have been using the 'Port A Shop' both at home and on trips including it in our travel featuring almost all the tools you could need short of major repairs to work on your bike.

The tools are lightweight, incredibly well made and are of a size that feels good in the hand giving good purchase when applying tension."

KUK Virsa Update on STW

"Basically, if you want a 100mm fork-ed hardtail for riding trails that are fast and narrow (ideally under tree cover) with lots of swoops and dips then there’s not many bikes that are more capable and suited to that sort of thing than this bike".

Singletrack Virsa update here.

Kinesis and Morvélo combine to not form a team

Kinesis UK and Morvelo enjoy their bike riding so much they've formed a strategic alliance to....erm...ride their bikes, write about it quite a bit and wear some really cool kit. But not to start a team.

Through riding the local cycling scene around their South Downs locale, the guys at Morvélo soon found themselves in cahoots with another Sussex-based company, bike-makers Kinesis and after a couple of high-level executive meetings have decided to not form a team.

According to Oli Pepper, co-founder of Morvélo, "It's a logical step. Both companies have a love of riding all types of bikes and in Kinesis's case creating them. Both love to race but didn't want a race team with the sole objective of having a name at the top of the results board. Instead they created The Kinesis Morvélo Project - The KMP - a collection of individuals who love to ride, race and roam no matter what type of wheels they may be spinning."

The component companies seem to like the fresh new approach too and The KMP already has the support of TRP brakes, Manitou, Microshift, WTB and Exposure. The KMP will ride, race and review a whole assortment of these products during the coming year.

Oli goes on, "There are no attitudes or 'race faces' in The KMP, just a focus on enjoying the ride and having a good time. The KMP is so far made up of 11 riders who cover a diverse range of age, nature, lifestyles and priorities and each one contributes their tales of cycling adventures and challenges, photos and videos to The KMP website.

From 24 year old Scottish Elite racing whippet Rab Wardell to 42 year old seasoned veteran of all cycling disciplines Paul Hudson, The KMP is a mixed bag. They have a previous Singlespeed UK champion in the shape of Phil Moore, long distance and Great Divide Race madness rider Jenn Hopkins as well as guys and girls who simply just love to get out and challenge themselves, whether it's a 24hr MTB race, a track session or just wanting to complete the Fred Whitton."

The KMP riders plan to use their many hours in the saddle to review the kit they use throughout the year. Chief designer at Kinesis, Dom Mason, will be writing about their very latest developments from geometry to decals. Oli Pepper will be sharing his thoughts on graphic design and fashion in the bike world and there will writing on all manner of bike events with guest bloggers joining in to provide a comprehensive insight to a world that just can't escape the joy of riding a bicycle.

Oval UnderOnly SCCS Complete Clip-On bars

"Oval have developed a wide ranging system that offers unparalleled levels of flexibility while maintaining the integrity of a normal drop bar set up. The SCCS system offers road cyclists the option of adding aero bars without ruining the useful centre section of a standard bar set up."

Full review here on Road.cc

Verdict - "The best solution I've found so far for those wanting to get aero while retaining the use of their drop bars."
